Let’s get ready for Bartram Springs Elementary School’s FIRST Talent Show!
Sponsored by
the PTA, the BSE Talent Show will take place on Friday, December 9th
at 6:00pm. (If there are too many acts for one show, an additional performance
will be added on Thursday, Dec. 8th)
Any and all
acts are welcome and open to all grades (K-5). Students and their families are invited to dust off their tutus, tune up their
instruments, and warm up their voices for any act under two minutes.
To make sure
that the show is a success, please see the following important information and
guidelines that must be followed:
1. Parents MUST ATTEND the audition on
FRIDAY, November 18th between 3:30-6pm. If there is a lot of interest, another
round of auditions will be scheduled for Monday, November 21st.
2. Performers MUST ATTEND the audition
and MUST be present at all rehearsals as well as the dress rehearsal. (Please
see schedule below.)
3. Come prepared to the audition and
make sure your act is PERFORMANCE READY! If needed, bring your accompaniment CD
labeled with the song title, track number and your name.
4. All songs and acts must be completely
appropriate for school. Costumes must follow the school’s dress code.
5. There is a rubric attached that the
judges will use to select the students who will be performing in the showcase.
While we wish we could include everyone, there are only a certain number of
acts that can perform due to time constraints.
6. Fill out the participation form and
return to the office or to Mrs. Kramer (Room 126) no later than Thursday,
November 10th.
7. A student may only perform in 1 act.
Each student in a group must turn in their OWN copy of this form with parent
signature.

Please see message below from our Principal...
Dear BSE Parents/Guardians,
I hope you and your family were safe during Hurricane Matthew. We know that many of you were (and possibly still) without power or just returning from evacuating. As a reminder, all DCPS schools will be closed on Monday, October 10th. School will reopen on Tuesday, October 11th. Fortunately, we had minimal damage at BSE. Our custodial crew and maintenance teams will be working quickly to clean an...d make repairs around the building. Please be sure to contact your child’s teacher or the main office at (904) 260-5860 if your family is experiencing any extenuating circumstances that would prevent your child from attending school this week.

Very Important!!
If you plan on volunteering in the school, attending class parties, or just having lunch with your child at the school, you will need tocomplete the online Volunteer Application Form at www.duvalschools.org/volunteers . This year EVERYONE will need to complete the form. Even if you renewed your volunteer application last year, you will still need to complete the application. Duval County changed their system and the front office is unable to check if you were cleared last year.
Volunteer Log
Please remember to sign the Volunteer Log in the front office whenever you volunteer at the school. The school keeps track of the volunteer hours and it helps the school keep their 5 Star Rating. Also, if you do a lot of volunteer work at home (scoring Sunshine Math (yes its back!!), cutting or preparing items for teachers, etc) you can keep a form at home with you and bring it in when it is needed (I would let you know). The Volunteer Log Binder is on the left side of the front office desk. The ladies in the front office can help you.
URGENT NEED IN THE MEDIA CENTER!
Our wonderful Media Specialist, Ms. Cramer, has an urgent need for help in the media center. There is a need for volunteers to come in and help put back books, straighten books, make sure they are in the correct location, and add bar codes stickers to new books. Ms. Cramer may also have some other needs throughout the year. If you are interested, please contact me at bsevolunteer@gmail.com

Also next week, we will be kicking off our Boosterthon. This is the PTA's only fundraiser. We are hoping to raise enough money to purchase a new laptop cart filled with 34 brand new laptops! This year's theme is Big World Recess. Here are a few of the things the Boosterthon team will be teaching the kids about.
The actual Fun Run will take place Friday, November 13th. We hope to see you there cheering on the kids!
